The Assets module contains applications that are designed to manage the assets that are owned or leased by your company from purchase to salvage, from the beginning to the end of the life cycle for an asset.
Asset records for purchased or leased information technology assets are maintained in the Assets application. You create these records in the Assets application or when you use the Receive Rotating Items action in the Receiving application

Supply chain

You use the applications in the Inventory module to manage your inventory of spare parts. You can maximize the availability of items for upcoming work tasks, and also reduce excess inventory balances and related carrying costs.
The goal is to find a balance of inventory stock. Maintenance work can be performed with minimum delays due to unavailable materials, without keeping seldom used items in stock.

You use the applications in the Purchasing module to manage the purchasing process, including obtaining requests for quotations (RFQs), purchasing the materials and services, and then receiving and invoicing them. The applications also help you to maintain information about the companies from which you purchase, and to integrate legal terms and conditions into the purchasing process.


IoT Devices such as sensors allow users to directly track their assets. This could be the voltage or temperature of a motor, an occupancy sensor in a room or any other number of devices. These device provide real time tracking for your assets and faculties. SRO maintain key partnerships with IoT device suppliers to help source the best devices for your business needs.

The Watson IoT Platform allows users to connect and track IoT sensors into a single platform that can fully integrate in to your Maximo EAM solution.

Maximo Asset Health allows you score your assets health using real time data from your IoT sensors, as well another information supplied by your Maximo system. These scores can support proper tracking and maintenance of your assets by your reliability engineer.


You use the Work Orders module to track the work that has been performed in the past, and future work that is being planned.
A work order is a request for work to be performed. The information that is contained on a work order includes, the tasks that were performed, the labour hours involved in performing the work, the services used, the materials used, the tools required to do the work, the assets worked on & the locations where the work was performed. All cost associated with Tasks, Services, Materials, Labour and Tools are presented on the Workorder as Planned vs Actual. They can also be rolled up costs when packaged together.


Maximo Anywhere provides a set of resources for building and deploying mobile apps that integrate with IBM Maximo® Asset Management. These apps extend the scope of your enterprise system by providing mobile users with protected access to data and services any time and anywhere.

With Maximo Anywhere mobile apps, mobile workers can work online and offline. When the worker is online, the app is connected to the server, and data is synchronized in real time. When the worker is offline, the app is disconnected from the server but remains operational. The worker can continue to work with secure data collections that are stored on the device. Data is synchronized when connectivity is restored.


You use the applications in the Analytics module to view scheduled reports and KPIs to analyse and understand information about the lifecycle and the maintenance of your assets.
You can install and integrate Cognos reporting to enable powerful and flexible data analysis for your users. Administrators access Cognos reporting to maintain the Cognos reporting server, define security settings, and manage users. Report developers use Cognos reporting to develop and maintain enterprise reports. Power and business users use Cognos reporting to run and view reports, and create ad hoc reports.

Planning & Scheduling

Asset Management Scheduler helps you to identify possible scheduling conflicts that might arise from multiple concurrent work orders that need the same resources. You can schedule to a group-capacity level or to the lead-craft level. You can move work records in bulk. For example, you can reschedule all unfinished work from the previous week to the next week. You can also match resources to requirements so that you can address exceptions rather than manually schedule all assignments.
The Scheduler application manages constraints to ensure that your work is scheduled properly. For example, you can use task-precedence constraints to specify that some work (such as painting a wall) cannot be started until other work (sanding the wall) is complete.

Health & Safety

You use the applications in the Safety module to inform workers of potential dangers in their work environment and to provide information to protect workers from those dangers. The hazards, precautions, and procedures that you define in these applications can apply to assets, work locations, or both. You associate the records that you create in these applications with Asset, Location, PM (Preventive Maintenance), and Work Order records.
