After a brief selection process suitable applications were chosen to solve Meridians faxing woes. SRO supplied and implemented ‘GFI' Faxmaker gateway solution and ‘Codestone Communications' WinTelex software solutions. Users now receive incoming fax and telex directly in their Outlook inbox. Users can also send fax messages directly from their preferred application such as Microsoft Word, because the Faxmaker software is installed at the Exchange gateway, users can also send/receive faxes remotely when working from home or out on the road. To maintain an audit trail every fax/telex received is automatically archived in an Exchange public folder.
SRO also wrote a bespoke software application to allow users of Meridians various purchasing systems (inc AMOS M&P and ShipNet) to send purchase orders, requisitions and quotations directly to the supplier via fax or email, without the need to manually print each form. SRO Solutions have formed reseller agreements with both ‘GFI' and ‘Codestone Communications'.

When incoming and outgoing messages reached unmanageable levels at ship management company ‘Meridian Marine' (Liverpool, UK) they approached SRO Solutions to recommend and supply a messaging solution capable of handing multiple fax/telex lines and users.
WinTelex is used as a backup messaging system when the vessels email and/or satellite phone is unavailable. Liam Herbert of Meridian comments "Traditionally telex messages are only sent and received when there is no other way of contacting our fleet, before this new system was installed to send telex messages it meant using a third party forwarding system and receiving was to only a few select people in the company to forward on. With the new system SRO has supplied, telex messages are directly delivered to the right people immediately."
