SRO Solutions set out to "add value"

Steve Driver and Tony Lackey, formerly working within the AMOS business unit at SpecTec have started a new venture along with other key staff including, Gary McDonald and Paul Taylor.

News"We have all worked together for many years in the business", says Steve Driver, Director at SRO, "and although there have been many changes along the way and more to come, we strongly believe there is a growing demand from our customers for a much more flexible, cost-effective & proactive solutions provider such as SRO."

SRO will combine its in-house knowledge and consulting expertise with selected 'best-of-breed' software & hardware vendors whilst working within a global network of like-minded professionals in order to cover the wide variation of skills & resources typically required for any successful project.

Concentrating on Planned Maintenance (CMMS), Purchasing and Ship-to-Shore Communication systems, SRO will provide services covering the complete 'life-cycle', from software selection through installation, implementation, training and support. To further compliment the software services, SRO will also provide database activities, customised developement as well as value-added systems such as predictive maintenance (CBM), e-commerce, V-Sat / Broadband and knowledge management.

"Buying the software is only one step in any project and only one small piece in a very complex jigsaw, if the software is not implemented correctly the software investment is wasted." says Mr Driver. "That is why we have picked our team so carefully, in order to provide real value added services"

"Times change especially with technology", says Mr Driver, "as with so many aspects in business and life in general, we must continue to move forward because it is not possible to simply recreate the past. Maritime software vendors have typically tried to supply a complete package or suite but such systems will always have some limitations especially if they are not correctly implemented and integrated with other corporate systems. Unfortunately, due to the global nature of our business and the increasing demands from our ‘IT Hungry' customers, it has not proved possible for a single software vendor to satisfy all requirements, meaning not only gaps in functionality but also a dilution of services, increased pressure on support and ultimately increased customer dissatisfaction".
